Carlos Santana, Ramon Ayala, Willie Nelson and other artists are part of the Latino cast that sings "Yes we can", a tribute to the immigrants in the U.S., including a benefit album.
The song is part of "Project of Love / Love Project", an album that recalls the union Cesar Chavez, who was a familiar figure among the U.S. Latino community, announced today the Hermes Music Foundation, which sponsors the project.
"Yes we can" will be launched on May 31, while the disc will be available in September or October, the benefits will go to the foundation and driving force of Dolores Huerta, activist close to Chavez.
The title is a phrase coined by Chavez, commonly used in meetings and demonstrations of the U.S. Latino community, fighting for rights and for obtaining a comprehensive immigration reform.
"Consciousness and love those who hate, love and patience to those who give everything for his family and asked to work alone," said Hermes Music on the proclamation of the record "to an atmosphere of hatred and uncertainty" arising from anti-immigrant legislation signed Arizona recently.
SB1070 law will enter into force once the Arizona police arrest anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant.
The legislation has led to a widespread rejection in the Latino community and led to rejection of artists like Los Tigres del Norte, referring to Mexican banda music based in the USA years and idols of the Latino community.
Among the participating artists, besides the Mexican guitar virtuoso Carlos Santana, the legendary compatriot Ramon Ayala grupero and U.S. veteran Willie Nelson's country are also groups and Intocable El Tri.
The single "Yes we can" will be released in three versions recorded in different genres, with voices like those of Mexican Reyli, Mario Domm (Camila) and Tatiana.
The foundation driving, Hermes Music, with offices in Mexico and the United States, is aimed at assisting disadvantaged groups through activities of various kinds.
Cesar Chavez (1927-1993), born in Yuma, Arizona, began working in the field and, over the decades, became a prominent leader for the rights of farmers. He founded the National Agricultural Workers Association with Dolores Huerta.
In the United States there are an estimated twelve million Mexicans who have emigrated, half of them in irregular immigration status. EFE
